"Artifice of Absorption" by Charles Bernstein translated into Russian

The Russian translation of Artifice of Absorption by the American poet (Charles Bernstein has been completed. The project has been carried out by Patrick Henry, Aleksei Parschikov and Mark Shatunovsky. The treatise will be published by OGI publishing house in Moscow in 2006.

Translations of selected poems by Amiri Baraka, a prominent contemporary African-American poet, have been published in the almanac. These works have been translated into Russian by Alexey T. Gastev.

The police has confiscated erotic books by such classical Russian writers as Pushkin and Lermontov in the largest bookstore of the city of Ivanovo. The prosecutors office has filed a lawsuit against book publishers and vendors for "illegal distribution of pornography".

95th anniversary of Russian poet Pavel Vasiliev has been celebrated in his native town of Pavlodar, Kazakhstan on December 22. P. Vasiliev died during the Stalin period of political repression, when he was only 26.

St. Peterburg poet Viktor Krivulin dies

V. Krivulin was the author of several dozens of poetry books, a well-known journalist and a prominent supporter of non-official literature during the Soviet era in Russia. He was 57 years old.
