Edward Lear Revisited

There was a young man in the Netherlands
Who had courted a girl in some other lands.
But upon his arrival
He encountered a rival
And abruptly returned to the Netherlands.

There was an old person of Bristol
Who did threaten his wife with a pistol.
In a fit of just rage
She locked him in a cage
Which appeased that old person of Bristol.

*   *   *

There was an old lady of Pisa
Who tried crossing the world with no visa.
At the border of Russia
She said “No, I ain’t rushin’",
And directed her pace back to Pisa.
